Black History Month

“Hate is too great a burden to bear. It injures the hater more than it injures the hated.” —Coretta Scott King

Every February, for Black History Month, we honour the legacy of Black Ontarioians and their communities. From the underground railroad to Albert Jackson, the first Black letter carrier in Canada, to the Honourable Lincoln Alexander, a leading figure in the fight for racial equity in Canada, to Ontario’s last segregated school closing in 1966, we have a rich history that needs to be learned and celebrated.
