Hastings-Lennox & Addington organizations helping people

During the 12 days of Christmas I highlighted some of the incredible organizations that are helping people in Hastings-Lennox & Addington. If you can support them, please, do.

The Morningstar Mission officially opened its doors in 2006 and has served countless meals to those in need, as well as operating a tax clinic, food bank, warming center, drop-in centre, and so much more! You can learn how to support them on their website, but their Coldest Night of the Year is coming up soon, and that’s a great way to help raise funds.

North Hastings Community Cupboard has been serving the region since 1992. They established Bancroft’s first community garden and work to address food insecurity in collaboration with many other rural food banks!

In 2022 the Salvation Army in Belleville has served over 30,000 meals, helped over 3500 people with necessary items, including food and other supplies, through their Family Services, given out medical support and a listening ear through our Street Nurse program, and clothed many through their Coats for Folks campaign.

The Northbrooke/Cloyne Food Bank takes donations or referrals through Land O’Lakes Community Services: 613-336-8934.

Helping Hands Food Bank Deseronto is at the municipal office at 316 Edmon St. Reach out to learn more.

Central Hastings Support Network was founded in 1985 by a group of caring community members who provide food basics to those in need and on-demand transit.

Stirling & Area Christian Community Care Inc. is a founding member of Quinte Region Food Share Shelter (QRFSS), a network of rural food banks in Hastings, Prince Edward and Lennox and Addington County. They have a food bank, Christmas baskets, and a toy drive each year.
