John Armitage

I was honoured to recognize John for his decades of exceptional service to his community. For over 50 years John has been a dedicated builder, coach, and mentor in the sport of rowing. As a founding member of both the Kingston Rowing Club and the Queen’s University Rowing Club, he has coached world-class rowers, including Olympic medalists.

John’s impact extends far beyond the sport. As a planner, developer, and business owner, he has developed numerous communities across Eastern Ontario, helping to build homes that meet the needs of our growing region.

His philanthropic work is just as impressive, as he has generously supported a range of athletic organizations and served as a key leader with the University Kingston Hospital Foundation, raising hundreds of thousands for the cause. His dedication to local charities and community events in Amherstview showcases his deep commitment to making a difference.
