Mohawk Landing Celebration

I was honoured to attend the Mohawk Landing Celebration to commemorate their ancestors’ arrival on May 22, 1784.

The Mohawks of the Bay of Quinte have a profound and storied history. They were steadfast allies of the British Crown during the colonial wars, and in return, they were promised the preservation of their homeland. Despite their challenges during the American Revolution, their resilience led them to the Bay of Quinte, guided by the indomitable Captain John Deserontyon.

Viewers witnessed the reenactment of their ancestors’ arrival and expressed gratitude for their safe passage.
