New Screening Program

Ontario has launched the Ontario Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm Screening Program (OAAASP)—the first of its kind in Canada—to help catch life-threatening aneurysms early.

What is it? An abdominal aortic aneurysm is a bulge in a major artery in the abdomen that can grow and rupture, causing severe internal bleeding.

Who’s at risk? Adults 65+.

How to get screened? A quick, safe, free ultrasound—no prep needed.

Starting now, people turning 65 will receive a letter from Ontario Health encouraging them to book an abdominal ultrasound. If you’re 65 or older, talk to your health-care provider about getting screened.

Please share with parents, grandparents, and neighbors—early detection saves lives.
