Ontario Investing in Hastings Wildlife Junction

Wonderful to welcome Minister David Piccini to Hastings County this morning to share that Ontario is investing an additional $14 million in the Greenlands Conservation Partnership. This phenomenal initiative continues to contribute to our vision of a greener, more sustainable Ontario. Since the launch of this program, we have safeguarded over 412,000 acres of land across the province. That’s an area more than double the size of the City of Toronto!

An additional $4 million was given to the Hastings Wildlife Junction project near Bancroft for protecting nearly 10,000 hectares (25,000 acres) of significant forest and wetlands, making it the second largest protected area in the region.

Conservation is a team sport, and this project is a testament to what can be accomplished when a team comes together to work towards a future where both people and wildlife can thrive!
