Yesterday, Comrade William John “Jack” Magilton was recognized as the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 137 2025 recipient of the Ontario Veterans Award for Community Service Excellence. This was a well-deserved honour for a lifetime of dedication and service.
With 33 years of service with the Napanee Legion, Jack has held nearly every position at the branch level and continues to serve today as Sergeant-at-Arms and Service Officer. His leadership with the Buddy Check Coffee program has also created a space for veterans to connect, share, and support one another. This is a true reflection of the camaraderie and care that define his character.
Jack has received numerous Legion awards over the years, including the Palm Leaf Award, Meritorious Service Medal, and Life Member Award, but what stands out most is his humility, perseverance, and tireless commitment to his fellow veterans and to our community.
Congratulations, Jack, and thank you for your service, your kindness, and your example of what community leadership truly looks like.
