Skilled Trades Career Fairs

Great news for Ontario! Skilled trades apprenticeship registrations have soared by 24% last year, bringing the total to 27,319. As we strive to build a stronger Ontario, it’s exciting to see more people recognizing the rewarding, well-paid careers in these trades.

The 2nd year of our skilled trades career fairs will expand to even more cities to inform students and job seekers about opportunities. It’s important to remember that there’s as much value in being an electrician or carpenter as an architect or lawyer.

With plans to build 1.5 million homes by 2031, we’ll need 100,000 new skilled trades workers this decade. The massive increase in apprenticeships, including a 28% jump among women, follows a $1 billion investment and the launch of Skilled Trades Ontario.

We’re making it easier for students to get their skills and credentials recognized, and we now require all students to take at least one technological education course. Here’s to empowering more individuals to embrace good-paying STEM and skilled careers!
