Suzanne Brant
May 13, 2025
It was my privilege to recognize Suzanne Brant as an outstanding educator and leader in our community.
As the President of the First Nations Technical Institute, Suzanne has transformed the academic landscape, creating an innovative program tailored to the needs of Indigenous peoples while fostering a caring and culturally sensitive learning environment. Her work truly embodies the University’s motto – “Tentanda Via” (The Way Must Be Tried) – as she brings education to students in ways they can truly absorb.
Suzanne’s impact has been widely recognized, both nationally and internationally, for her efforts to promote cultural and environmental awareness. To her students, Suzanne is not just a leader – she is family, and her influence extends far beyond the classroom.
In addition to her work at the First Nations Technical Institute, Suzanne was appointed in July 2020 to the Premier’s Council on Equality of Opportunity, where she advises on ways to help young people overcome social and economic barriers to success.
Thank you, Suzanne, for your unwavering dedication to education and your commitment to making a positive difference in our world. Your leadership and vision continue to inspire all of us!
