As Second Deputy Speaker, it was an honour to welcome members of the United Kingdom Parliament to Queen’s Park on behalf of Speaker Donna Skelly, alongside Effie Triantafilopoulos, Jennifer French and Andrea Hazell, during their visit as part of the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association program.
The delegation was led by Sharon Hodgson and included members of both the House of Commons and the House of Lords.
Our discussions focused on strengthening democratic institutions, advancing parliamentary modernization, evolving legislative practices, and reinforcing the long-standing economic and institutional ties between Ontario and the United Kingdom.
